Are you on the hunt for stickers for your business but having trouble making sense of all the terminology? Custom stickers, labels, kiss cut, die-cut… Who wouldn’t get confused? We are here to help you navigate the sticker universe.
Let’s dive straight in!
The Material
Clear vinyl is great for appliances to windows, glass and plastic – any surface you would like to see through your sticker. It does not matter whether they are described as clear stickers, transparent stickers or see-through stickers. All of these will be printed on clear, high-clarity vinyl. But be careful: a dark logo can easily be absorbed by a dark background.
Stickers vs Labels
There is no inherent difference between stickers and labels. Both are printed-on, adhesive-backed pieces of paper or plastic that can be applied to a multitude of surfaces. However, labels usually come on sheets whereas stickers are individually cut.
The below image illustrates this difference. When peeled off, stickers and labels look exactly the same and you can get both die-cut, that is cut following the shape of your design.

Which do you need?
Making the right choice between stickers and labels can make your life a lot easier. Through the kiss cut, the cut around your design yet not through the backing paper, labels are 65% quicker and easier to peel than individually cut stickers. When you have to apply hundreds of labels, this can be an absolute time saver.
Getting these on an A4 or A5 sheet will also allow you to keep your labels organized. Stickers, on the other hand, are perfect for giveaways or to add to your orders as a present for your customers. Sheets and individually cut stickers are not your only option. Certain machines need their labels on rolls that can look like this.
And that’s it, everything you need to know about the differences between clear labels and clear stickers. We hope you found this article helpful for choosing your next stickers.
